I’m excited to announce that Maggie Denison and I will be co-hosting a workshop on July 11, 2015 on applying yoga and mindfulness practices to promote the well-being of young people with special needs and their caregivers. Maggie is coming all the way from Ontario – so don’t miss it! She is a skilled and experienced yoga instructor who has been working with young people with developmental differences and their families for more than 30 years. She works together with Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech and Language Pathologists to develop yoga programs to complement other therapies for children, teens, and their families. Space is limited, so sign up soon! If cost is a barrier from attending, please contact me for a reduced rate. Here are the details:
Everyone has special needs! This workshop offers simple yoga and mindfulness tools to promote health and well-being for all individuals. We highlight practices that may be particularly helpful for children and adolescents on the autism spectrum, and those experiencing challenges related to ADD/ADHD, depression, anxiety, and eating disorders. Learn tools to promote calm, focus, self-awareness, self-regulation, self-compassion, and healthy relationships with others. Discover how these practices can be applied for self-care in educators and counsellors. No previous experience with yoga and mindfulness is necessary.
