Drawing on my background as and English as an additional language (EAL) teacher and degree in Linguistics, this workshop introduces teachers how yoga and mindfulness-based practices can reduce stress and promote English language skills. You will learn yoga- and mindfulness-based activities to prepare students for learning, and for teaching skills in pronunciation, conversation, grammar, reading, and writing. Although this workshop is designed for English language learners, many of the skills and activities are useful for promoting literacy in native English speakers as well.
Activities are appropriate for people ages seven and up, although they can be easily adapted for younger children. Some previous experience with yoga is helpful, but not necessary for this day-long workshop. Leave with plenty of resources and worksheets to get you started right away!
